Nestled in the heart of the Leicestershire countryside

Fair Farm Hideaway is nestled away on our 3rd generation working family farm in rural Leicestershire. The farm is a mixed farm with both livestock and arable in Waltham on the Wolds and the surrounding area.
South Devon, Aberdeen Angus and Limousin cows and calves graze the rich pastures during the summer months as well as sheep and lambs throughout the year.

By growing our own cereal crops we are able to select the best feed for our cattle from ‘home grown crops’ when they are not grazing our pasture. The crops we produce are wheat and barley and our grassland consists of beautifully preserved old Leicestershire meadows alongside newly sown grass leys.

How the Hideaway began …..

In addition to farming the land, some twenty years ago the lakes were created when a dam was built at the lower end of the valley, resulting in two deep water lakes.  These were stocked with Carp, Tench, Chub, and Rudd.  Initially fishing lakes for day fishing only the idea of maximising the lakes potential evolved and the owners began the massive undertaking of creating and installing 10 traditionally hand-crafted shepherd huts.

The groundworks were extensive however the site soon began to take shape

Using our own Fair Farm Team and with the help of friends the site was landscaped under the expert guidance of a local garden/landscape designer and pathways and oak bridge installed.   We are immensely proud of our ‘achievements’ only made possible with the help of the wonderful team giving so generously of their time and expertise.

Carefully and thoughtfully crafted

Fair Farm Hideaway has been happily welcoming guests since 2017.   Our rural retreat comprises of 10 handmade traditional shepherd huts all with en-suite facilities.

Initially starting with two huts from Blackdown Shepherd Huts we then created a further eight huts in the farm buildings on our family farm* with the help of friends, family and local master craftsmen.

The Hideaway site has been carefully and thoughtfully designed by local landscapers which has resulted in a mature and naturalised environment. Winding paths take you to your huts with discrete planting or a metal screen arranged to provide privacy for the huts.

Seeds from the wild flower meadows located on our farm were harvested and scattered so British wildflowers bloom every Spring throughout the Hideaway.

The Hideaway is surrounded by beautiful Leicestershire countryside with numerous walks in the area for you to enjoy.   We often recommend our favourite local dog walks and favourite village pubs. The surround area provides guests access to sky diving, aqua parks, go karting, golf, sailing and so much more.

Our shepherd huts enable you to discover the Leicestershire Wolds and to come home to your own little hideaway.

Wild flower meadows

To create the wild flower meadows surrounding the Shepherd huts we have harvested some of the species-rich meadows on our family farm and incorporated the seed around the site to perpetuate and preserve ‘old Leicestershire’ species.
